Lingerie, Mon Amour
by Abdon FLORES
Everybody knows what lingerie is and where it comes from; that’s right, France, the country of fashion and wine and culture and so many other things that put France and its capital in page one of our minds. Regarding underwear, French influence has been so strong that the word lingerie has migrated to other languages as a gallicism. Glamour and seduction have inspired French designers to produce bold and charming pieces ever since.
French lingerie has always promoted excellence, know-how, creativity, beauty, and chic glamour. It is constantly innovating to create meaningful collections and design narratives that refine and highlight the beauty of women all over the world. In the first 10 months of 2016 the French exports of lingerie and nightwear for women accounted for 514 million euros. Figures that led to a première: Lingerie, Mon Amour a unique show and declaration of love to expose French lingerie, a major event organized by Promincor – Lingerie Française and supported by the Committee for the Development and Promotion of Clothing (DEFI).
With Parisian romanticism as its primary theme, the show was a tribute to the know-how and creativity of French lingerie, which radiates throughout the world. For the first time ever, the biggest French lingerie brands came together to present their new collections. The venue for the show was the sumptuous Pavillon Cambon in the heart of Paris, and it highlighted the most beautiful pieces from fourteen top brands: Antigel, Antinéa, Aubade, Chantelle, Empreinte, Eprise, Epure, Implicite, Lise Charmel, Lou, Louisa Bracq, Maison Lejaby, Passionata and Simone Pérèle. Also, it included five emerging French designers who presented their work: Elise Anderegg, Madame Aime, Maud & Marjorie, Paloma Casile and Ysé.

Usually it is said that luxury deals mainly with unique pieces of great quality. Lingerie, Mon Amour was an occasion to admire probably the most sensual of the luxuries, the one which enhances the sensuality of the feminine body by small fragments of silk and lace.
