Schwarz Etienne “Fiji Floral Seconds” – Baselworld 2019
by Abdon FLORES
Schwarz Etienne has been in movement since 1902, following an extraordinary, uninterrupted trajectory. In 2007, Schwarz Etienne became a manufacture by manufacturing his own automatic and hand winding mechanical movements. Most of the components are also manufactured in house, to say that the Schwarz Etienne has become autonomous and wants to be able to ensure that the work completed in its production.
During Baselworld 2019 the brand presents its first ladies’ watch: Fiji Floral Seconds. This timepiece is a clear attempt to adapt a men’s design to ladies’ proportions. The dial is animated by a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock designed as an openworked lattice that rests above a rotating disc. colours include black or pale salmon, with drop shaped indexes and an Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock.
The Fiji Floral Seconds has an automatic caliber with a remarkable 86-hour power reserve, and it’s decorated with a sunray pattern on the bridges and a guilloché motif on the balance bridge. The 38 mm case is stainless steel, constructed in three parts, including bezel, caseband and caseback, forming a capsule that is mounted with a separate cradle that incorporates the lugs. The large crown is topped by a 0.02 carat diamond.
