Promenade pour un objet d’exception – Prada

The fourth edition of the already famous Promenade through the Avenue Montaigne, rue François 1er and rue Marignan is in the near horizon. For this occasion the Italian brand Prada will present “Entomology”, a limited production range of bags designed by Miuccia Prada and British contemporary artist Damien Hirst. The bag is a clear Plexiglass shell in which are immersed a variety of insects chosen by Mr. Hirst: Campanotus giganteum, Nephile pilipes, Prosocopoilus occipitalis, Eupholus cuvieri, Pachyrhyncus orbifer… A flabbersgasted entomological collection, recalling all those cabinets de curiosités famous in the XVI and XVII centuries, and so fashionable since last year.

The bag is embellished with a one-micron gold-plated rigid frame; insect-shaped embroidery in sequins, crystals and feathers; the bag comes in three different colors, each one is named after a different insect species. With this piece Mr. Hirst honours the animal kingdom, a constant inspiration of this nowadays influential artist.
