Schmidt’s Naturals

Day after day natural products are winning acceptance among people. A huge wave of conscience for wellness has begun to bath many areas of the planet. It is under this spirit that brands as Schmidt’s Naturals were born. Eight years ago, in Portland, Oregon, the founder Jaime Schmidt had in mind a simple, precise idea: to make a non-toxic deodorant without interfering with sweating. Usually deodorants block transpiration, the consequence of this is more than questionable from the physiological point of view.

The approach by Ms. Schmidt was to absorb humidity and neutralize body odor resulting from sweat. Unlike the typical story of a garage invention, this one happened in a kitchen. So, under the moto ‘The new face of natural’ the once small brand became well known in the Northwest of the USA, and now abroad. The key factor of this success was the using of botanical and mineral-derived ingredients, this means that aluminium salts, paraben, alcohol, phtalates, triclosan, propylene-glycol and BHT/BHAT are absent.

Instead, in Schmidt’s Naturals we find arrowroot powder, magnesium, sodium bicarbonate, coconut oil, shea butter and pure essential oils. That and a friendly, neat presentation has put the brand among the most desirable ones regarding deodorants. Take for instance the Charcoal + Magnesium one, a formula that has the odor of the rain; hard not to be attired by such aroma. Deodorants come either as a stick or, another plus, as a sort of wax in a sustainable glass jar.

Bergamot-Lime, Lavender-Sage, Rose-Vanilla or either odorless, all the fragances are unisex, and they exist in smooth or solid and in a travel-size format. For sensitive skins the brand has developped six fragrances where sodium bicarbonate is substituted by magnesium powder. For those concerned, Schmidt’s Naturals has the PETA and Leaping Bunny labels.
