Breitling Navitimer 8 B01

BASELWORLD 2018

by Abdon FLORES

A new model by Breitling will always be welcomed in the world of watches. Famous for its chronographs, the brand created by Léon Breitling in 1884 just released in Baselworld a new Navitimer, an icon of the Swiss Made quality. The Navitimer 8 is a nod to the Huit Aviation Department, which was set up in 1938 to produce cockpit instruments as well as classic pilot’s watches for civilian and military use. At the time, Willy Breitling chose the name “Huit,” the French word for “eight,” as a reference to the eight-day power reserve offered by its storied cockpit instruments.

The Navitimer 8 B01 is presented in stainless steel as well as in 18k red gold, each with the exclusive Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 which has dual-acting ball-bearing rotor, 346 components, 28,800 vib/h (4 Hz), COSC-certified chronometer, and 70-hour power reserve. The case measures 43 mm diameter, 13.97 mm height, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screwed caseback with sapphire glass, screw-locked crown, bi-directional bezel with pointer. Water-resistant to 100 meters (10 bar/330 ft.) Certainly with these two versions, the manufactory meets all the demands of discerning watch bearers.
