Grande Seconde Moon Black Enamel
BASELWORLD 2018
The Moon Phase, the most poetic of all complications, is the signature of Jaquet Droz’s flagship Grande Seconde collection. For the 2018 Baselworld edition, the firm is presenting this flawless timepiece with a figure-8 dial configuration, rendered in black Grand Feu enamel. The lower subsidiary dial is dominated by a realistic moon, engraved out of 22K gold and mounted on a black onyx disk that rotates. It is an astronomical moon phase, which means it requires correction only once every 122 years, and is driven by an in-house automatic calibre with a silicon balance spring.
This tribute to the role of astral phenomena in the origins of watchmaking, comes in a 43 mm 18k red gold case. The movement is a mechanical automatic Jaquet Droz 2660QL3 Calibre, 28,800 vib/h (4 Hz), 30 jewels, 18k gold rotor, and has 68-hour power reserve. Jaquet Droz timepieces have always combined contemporary design and unusual materials with the utmost mechanical refinements. The Grande Seconde Moon Black Enamel is a solid statement on this regard.
